The Canadian Firefighter Curling association this year is giving every province $5000.00 from the fund raising as they did last year.
The Canadian Firefighter Curling association are also going to be donating another $10,000.00 to each province to donate to the charity of their choice. This donation can be split into two different charities if we would like.
At the Executive Meeting on July 21 we collectively selected the following three charities that we would like to donate to.
The BC Burn Fund
The BC Jr. Curling
The Children’s Hospital.
We would like each member to go to our BCFFCA Facebook page and cast a vote in the comments. Select two of the above charities to
whom you think we should donate this money to.
Vote Here: BCFFCA Facebook
**Only BCFFCA members votes will count**

Ed Ferleyko , retd BFD , passed away this June 19th, at the age of 75 . He was diagnosed in January of this year, with an aggressive form of bone marrow cancer . Gone to soon !! Fast Eddy !!! Ed was hired in July of 1971, and retired July of 2003 as a captain. Ed was born in Saskatchewan , must of been on a farm because, Eddy was a farm boy ,thru and thru . He loved his side job , landscaping , he felt right at home on his John Deere tractor . He would have that tractor off the trailer, moving dirt and rock, before the homeowner had told him what he wanted. Fast Eddy !! Family was very important to Ed , and his wife Dianne . Both had large families back on the prairies , and they liked to come visit the west coast . When they came , they all came !! Another love of Ed’s was curling . Ed was quite successful in the firefighters curling provincial playdowns . Winning the province , and heading to the nationals three times . Eds biggest curling claim to fame would be going to the nationals in 1986 in Montreal on the John Campbell rink , and bringing home the championship to BC. In the process, beating World and Canadian champion, Ed Werenich “The Wrench” , representing S Ontario , in the semi final . One final story, Fast Eddy , was strong like bull , be careful ! Teammate Dave Tory on a road trip , decided to tweak Eds substantial nose. MISTAKE . Fast Eddy inverted Daves nose to an extreme that he would have drowned in rain storm . Daves nose didn’t recover for days . RIP SNIFFLES
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the passing of Jim McGrath, long time member of the SOFFCA and truly an icon in the curling world.
Jim had been battling cancer for the past few years and passed away on January 15, 2021.
Our thoughts and condolences are extended to Jim’s family and friends from the curling and firefighting worlds.
Please read the document below regarding the decision on the 2021 BCFFCA Champions.
